I Own You

The swaddle owns us. Before it came into our lives no one slept. And now, we're afraid to kick it out of our lives. Life is so much sweeter with a swaddle in it. We've been slowly attempting to wean Evy from her swaddle but it's not going well. Without the swaddle she wakes crying after about 20 minutes.

What do you know about swaddling? Is it a problem to continue to swaddle? Some of the books I've been reading suggest it's ok until even 9 months. I like that answer. It's easier.

Sometimes I wish someone would swaddle me.

I swaddled Matthew at least 6 months. We eventually transitioned to having him arms out once he could bust them free and then to sleep sacks. I think we got out of the sleep sacks once he could crawl and pull up.

Also, I think I posted this on your last swaddling post but as she gets bigger and outgrowns the Swaddle Me's, The Miracle Blanket is a lifesaver. There is no getting out of it!

Sorry I don't know a thing about the "swaddler", but that 2nd picture of dear Miss Evy and the expression on her face has me laughing! Aunt Susie >^..^<

I swear it's a straight jacket, but it seems to work for the precious baby!

They sell the Swaddle Me at Baby Bliss (coralville) in a size large! We just took out 7 mo out of it...she was getting too big. I went cold turkey. she slept through the night in a sleep sack! She will let you know when she is ready. My daughter was waking up because she was waking up.

I tell you, I stressed and stressed about taking the swaddle away and it went beautifully!

err..I meant to say she was waking up because she was breaking out of the swaddle.

Swaddle all you want. When Jack went to daycare they couldn't figure out how to get him to sleep. Eventually, they got him swaddled tightly in a blanket and seriously he swaddled until he was about a year and got too big for the blankets (not even swaddles actual blankets). It was like his blanket-straight-jacket. My mother in-law use to say,"you should have seen how tightly he was wrapped when I picked him up today?!" (slightly concerned). And, I just responded with "he loves it". Like the kindergarten teachers say, if it's not dangerous or distructive don't worry. Hail the swaddle!!!!

It looks like a straight jacket!

If you want to break away from the swaddle at some point, try the wedge-like sleep positioner. It was the only thing that kept Brody asleep. Too bad I didn't try it until he was 6 months old. I am still catching up on sleep. :)
