Catching Up

 

We've managed to stay pretty active this summer even though we now have a little man in tow. I just haven't managed to blog very frequently.

 

Evy went to vacation bible school again this year. Although she asked me to not sign her up this year she ended up having a blast and by the end she told me to sign her up for next year. On the last night they invite the families to come and watch the singing. Evy was in the front row singing all of the words and doing all of the moves. Charlie thought it seemed like so much fun she wanted to join Evy and our good friend Ellie in the action.

 

 

Evy is taking swimming lessons again and she says that swimming is her favorite activity. She has made a lot of progress this summer, diving underwater and doing the front crawl. Swim lessons are at 4:30 so I have been dragging all 3 kids with me. I need a nap after I manage to get everyone loaded back into the van. Last week I took the easy route and left Charlie at daycare while I took the other two to swim lessons.

And, I finally managed to make it to the farmer's market for the first time this year. The girls have gone twice with Grandma so Evy was able to tell me where the porta-potties are and where the donuts are. We were hoping to find the guy who makes balloon animals but he must have had the day off. Of course we go to the farmer's market to buy donuts not produce. Charlie didn't make the trip this time, she was still sleeping at 9:45 when Evy and I left the house. That's a new personal sleeping in record for her!

Tuesday Fun Days

 

At the end of my pregnancy when I was barely able to walk Grammy Sherry started coming down on Tuesdays to entertain the girls. Since Will's arrival Grammy has continued to help out on Tuesdays and last week we went to visit her!

 

The parks and splash pads in Grammy's town are far superior to what we have around us. Evy spent most of her time "resting" on her towel. Charlie periodically ran through the sprinklers.

Then we went to check out the Wickiup Hill Learning Center which I had never heard of. It was great and the girls loved it. We will definitely be returning.

One Month

 

One month old! The month has gone like a flash. As a third child Will has been drug around everywhere. We are never home...this is not the type of maternity leave where you stay at home and relax. Three days a week we are out of the house by 7:30 so Will can help me drop the girls at daycare. He is a regular at Hy-Vee, Costco, and Target. He's been to Evy's gymnastics class, the zoo, out to lunch several times, my dentist appointment, and even been to a retirement party at my office. He likes to be on the move so he is great at running errands. As long as he is in the car, a stroller, or a shopping cart he is content. We're still working through some tummy issues (or maybe a little Colic). After eating he's extremely fussy and has to be soothed with a pacifier and has to be moving. Each evening from about 6 to 10 p.m. he requires constant assistance (pacifier, rocking, walking, bouncing etc). He has been sleeping in his crib for the past 3 nights, eating at 11 p.m., 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. I would love to push that 5 a.m. feeding to 6:30 or later since his sisters are awake at 6:30...hopefully we will get there soon! Love this little man!

 

 

4th of July Fun

 

I am getting horrible at remembering my camera so once again all of these images were stolen from my brother and sister-in-law. You should have seen how much stuff we had shoved into the mini-van for the holiday weekend. The camera probably wouldn't have fit anyway!

 

Such fun! The girls both participated in a pedal pull. I somehow missed this Midwest rite of passage as I never participated in a pedal pull growing up. Charlie was so cute--sticking her tongue out the entire way.

Keosauqua celebrated it's 175th birthday so Grandma bought all of the kids commemorative shirts.

 

Charlie preferred to sprinkle the food into the animal cages instead of letting them eat out of her hands.

Evy had no problem letting the animals eat directly from her hand.

Papa built the kids this playhouse. It has real windows, real shingles, a real light that turns on. It's kind of ridiculous and the kids loved it!

 

We packed as much fun as possible into two days. I don't even have photos of the fireworks, tractor rides, lanterns, glow sticks, fishing, or wood shop projects.
