June Bits

 In June 2022...

...Will was obsessed with fishing.

...we did some boating.

...we went to Keosauqua for a quick 24 hours.

...Will finally got to try the Wendy's baconater that he was begging to try. Ha! No idea where he came up with this one!

Girls Trip to Florida

Since Scott had a Canada fishing trip scheduled I called my parents to see if they could watch the kids for a few days while I skipped off to Florida with some friends. Yippeee!

Will Turns 8!

With a baseball tournament on both Saturday and Sunday, it was a bit tricky to fit all of the birthday celebrations in - but we did it! On Friday afternoon Will had his buddies MJ and Cameron come over and slide on the giant water slide. Then on Saturday, his baseball team won both of their games. On Sunday, we had to wake up early for baseball so he opened his presents from us and we grabbed birthday McDonald's breakfast on our way to the baseball tournament. In his first game, he smacked a triple which could have been an in-the-park homerun but the 3rd base coach told him to stay on base. He could have made it home! He also pitched a fabulous inning. We rounded out the birthday weekend with a family birthday party at home.

7th Grade Track - Evy

Evy was looking forward to finally getting to track season. Unfortunately, mother nature did not work in our favor and almost half of her meets were canceled due to rain, wind, and cold. It was not a nice spring. During the regular season, she became a stand-out at high jump winning every meet. She also won the 100 Meters every meet and took an assortment of top 4 finishes in the 200 meters.

State Meet, Waukee
Evy was invited to participate in the state track meet in Waukee. She placed 2nd in the high jump, 8th in the 100, 7th in the 200 and her relay team took 5th in the sprint medley relay.

State Pentathlon, Iowa City
Evy was not thrilled to be asked to participate in the pentathlon. Ha! In this event, she had to compete in shot put, 100-meter hurdles, high jump, 400-meter run and long jump. Her junior high team won the team championship.

Last Day of School

Last day of first grade for Will, 5th grade for Charlie and 7th grade for Evy. This year was not without its bumps. Charlie had a tough year with friends - class sizes are too big and this created way too much drama. Parenting Evy went from 0 to 100 when she entered Junior High. Holy smokes! We all survived and learned a lot of life lessons!

Will and his buddy Cameron are currently the easiest kids to manage. Ha! The girls had after-school plans on the last day so I took Will and Cam for some treats.
