Happy Halloween (The Cute Version)

Princess Ariel and her friend, the Elephant

On a side note; next year I must remember to leave work early. We got home at 5:05 (which is earlier than most employed people) and I was attempting to get the kids to eat dinner when our doorbell started ringing at 5:15. By the time we were trying to get costumes on and get pictures taken our neighborhood was in full swing and the girls were fully distracted.

Happy Halloween

We had such fun at an adult Halloween party. The costumes were very creative and the hostess outdid herself with decorations and food!

Turning Four

Evy kicked her birthday celebration off earlier this month when we celebrated the Fall birthdays on Scott's side of the family.

On Saturday, Evy had her first "friends party." We hosted 10 kids for an hour and half (whew!) at our house. We played pin the tail on the lion.

We bounced in a bounce house.

We had cake!

To the untrained eye it might appear that the lions on the cake are hanging out in a cemetery, but the four year old caught on right away--the lions are actually standing on Pride Rock, just like they do in Lion King.

Opening presents.

Each time we go to Costco Evy admires the fresh flowers. I let her pick out her own bouquet for her party. She chose the pink roses.

On Evy's birthday morning she opened presents from Mom and Dad and Grandma Joan and Papa Jake.

Then we had our traditional birthday morning pancake breakfast. Evy didn't want us to sing Happy Birthday to her so we sang her the "You live in a zoo..." version. She thought that was pretty funny.

Then, we actually went to the zoo! Evy rode her favorite horse, Snowflake.

And found her favorite animals...the lions, of course!

We wrapped the birthday celebration up with a ride on the train. Mostly, because I was so exhausted from everything that I couldn't walk anymore. Ha!

Happy Birthday Big Girl!

Four Year Birthday Interview

(We conducted the interview over breakfast on a typical "mommy day"; Evy being silly,
taking forever to eat her breakfast, and playing with a lion.)

Evy will turn 4 this weekend. The next few days are very busy for us so I conducted her birthday interview a couple of days early.

Q: What is your favorite color?
A: Pink and Orange

Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Mac 'n Cheese

Q: Who is your best friend?
A: Heather and Ellie

Q: What is your favorite thing to do?
A: Play at the museum
Evy likes two museums so I asked her for further clarification on this answer. She said she likes both the animal museum (Museum of Natural History) and the children's museum.

Q: What is your favorite song?
A: Hakuna Matata

Q: What is your favorite treat?
A: Ice cream sandwich

Q: What is your favorite drink?
A: Lemonade

Q: What is your favorite TV show or movie?
A: Princess shows

Q: What is your favorite toy?
A: Lions and my snuggle blankie with movies
She got a fleece blanket for her birthday and she loves laying on it while watching movies.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do with your family?
A: Go fishing with Grandma and Papa and my family
She fishes with both sets of grandparents, but it's not something that we do frequently. I was a little surprised that this answer came to mind, but that's what I love about these interviews.

Q: Where is your favorite place to go?
A: To the mall to eat

Q: What is your favorite book?
A: Disney Princesses--Sleeping Beauty

Here's the three year old interview.

Pumpkin Patch Take 3

In case anyone is keeping track...we visited our third pumpkin patch this weekend. I think that covers it for the season...

This Kid

This kid! So cute. Such a stinker! She is the happiest little girl, but gets into everything! Handfuls of potting soil dropped on the floor. Toys strewn about the entire house. I was attempting to make lunch and she kept grabbing this box of graham crackers from the pantry. I took them away from her three times and put them away. Finally, she grabbed them, ran back into my bedroom and had them dumped on the floor before I could catch her. Stinker.

Jedi Tricks

Evy picked up a tutu at Target and asked if she could get it. She's had her eye on it for about a month and I tell her no every time. It was the last one in her size so I told her she would have to ask Daddy. I am constantly reminded (by Daddy!) that I spend too much money on clothes. Adorably, Evy walked up to Daddy and asked if she could get it. Daddy shot me "the look" and Evy proceeded to put the tutu in the cart. Later, I told Evy that she needed to tell Daddy thank you for the tutu. I explained that Daddy didn't want to buy the tutu so she needed to thank him. Evy replied, "But mom, if you wanted to buy it for me and Daddy didn't want to buy it why do I tell him thank you?" My little Jedi has lots to learn...

Pumpkin Patch Trip 2

After naps we went to the pumpkin patch located next to our neighborhood. We got lost in another corn maze, played in the corn box, and drove a tractor. Ok, we didn't actually drive it we just sat on it. Due to all of our pumpkin patch adventures we accomplished nothing this weekend. The house is a disaster, no laundry done, and nothing got crossed off the to-do list. Feeling a little ill prepared for the week, but at least we have pumpkins!

Pumpkin Patch Trip 1

This morning we hit Kroul's Family Farm and picked out some great pumpkins. We saw cows, chickens and goats. And then, nearly got lost in the corn maze! Thank goodness Evy lead us to safety! After lunch in Mt. Vernon we headed home for naps.

Cool Dude

Evy was wearing sunglasses the other day and Charlie wanted in on the action. We call Charlie Cool Dude.

Best Friend

Evy adores the older "E" who lives in our neighborhood. She almost stalks "E," watching out the window for her and wanting to run across the street the second "E" appears outside. Nothing makes Evy's day more than being invited to play at "E's" house. Evy's favorite thing to do at "E's" house is play dress up. Look at my cheap lounge singer! "E" does a great job playing with Evy, who is much younger and likes to dictate what they play. Evy says that "E" is her best friend and wants to make sure that "E" comes to her birthday party. "E" and her family will be moving out of our neighborhood in the next few months and I think Evy will truly be crushed. Thanks for being such a great big buddy, "E"!
