Cheap Seats

Do you use generic diapers? As an infant, Evy had bad diaper rash so we worked our way through several brands until we found that the Pampers Swaddlers didn't irritate her bottom. As she grew we moved on to the Pampers Cruisers--of course this line just happens to be some of the most expensive diapers on the market. After hearing my friends rave about the cost savings and quality of generic diapers we decided to try them out. Evy is excited about it. The first time we put the Up and Up brand on her she said, "Ooooh Like Finn!" Scott is a little nervous that his daughter knows what kind of "underwear" her daycare friends wear. She's now requesting the generic so she can be like Finn. As long as her hiney holds up we could be on to something!

Happy Birthday Grandmas!

Both of Evy's Grandmas have birthdays in January. Evy made sure to secure a front row view of the cake at each party.

Educational Toys

Did you know that beer bottle caps make excellent educational toys? That's right! Today we used the caps to work on counting, colors and matching. "What color is this Heineken cap, Evy?" "Green!" "What color is the Michelob Ultra cap, Evy?" "Grey!" Count the Sam Adams caps, Evy. Whoops, she can't count that high. The schools should really look at adding this to the curriculum.

The Pony

We were at a hotel this weekend and I was messing around with Evy, showing her different dances to keep her entertained. We were laughing hysterically as she imitated the moves. Here is her version of the "pony." Bottom spanking and all...

The Art of Stalling

Evy has become quite the little con artist. For the last few weeks every time I am getting her dressed, putting on her shoes or her coat Evy leans in and gives me the biggest hug. She holds the embrace and says things like, "Oh, I love you Mama" and "I love you more than anyone." She knows there is no way I'm going to resist this and it temporarily stalls the process of getting out the door. Her little charade has gotten so predictible I had Scott ready with the camera this morning so he could document it. In the photos I'm attempting to put on her shoes so we can leave for school. I willingly fall for the con everytime.

Inside Day

Even on my days off we run around, a lot. Today we had a lazy day and didn't leave the house. From the photos you can see the toll that took on my house. Every last attempt at entertainment is currently spread out in our basement and Evy is not the only one still wearing her pajamas at 5 p.m.

The Circle

Evy thinks it is so fun to drive on "the circle." Every time we get on the highway she starts asking, "Where's the circle?" I'm going to start planning my route to include circles so I can keep her entertained. I wonder if roundabouts will be as exciting...

Just a Trim

Things started off a little rough. Evy did not want to wear Miss Katie's "cape" and did not want water sprayed on her head. Luckily, Evy does not have much hair so neither of these issues were a deal stopper. I distracted Evy by showing her some photos on our camera and Katie quickly trimmed up the back, sides and bangs. At two years old Evy still does not have much hair but this trim helped shape it up a little bit so it's not as wild. Maybe she'll grow in to being a salon girl...

Haircut

Immediately after seeing this photo I scheduled Evy's first haircut. We have an appointment with Katie at 9:15 Friday morning and hopefully she can do something with this mop-top! I told Evy we were going to get her hair cut and she is not too fond of the idea so the entire experience could be interesting.

Cabin Fever!

Evy is a crazy ball of energy right now and wants to chase, hide, jump and run non-stop. By Sunday morning Scott and I were exhausted and looking for a way for Evy to burn some energy. At 10 a.m. Evy was jumping on our bed, going crazy and I looked and Scott and said, "Why don't you take her to the mall?" Off they went. Whew! None of the stores were open so it was a perfect (free) playground. They hit the play area, walked the entire length of the mall, and rode all of the quarter toys, without actually putting quarters in them. Any suggestions on other indoor activities for wild two year olds? We do the library and the children's museum often, but other suggestions would be much appreciated by these tired parents!

Tangled

Yesterday, we took Evy to her first movie! She was one of the youngest in the theatre but besides yelling out "Cindewewwa's Castle!" during the opening credits and "That's not nice!" during a fight scene she did wonderful. She is such a movie junkie she probably would have sat through 2 more showings.
