Charlie's Day!

 

Today was Charlie's day to spend some one on one time with Mom and Dad. It was also a reminder to me that it is quite easy to manage one child with two adults. Something you don't realize until you have a second. Can't wait to learn what real chaos is when we introduce a third to the mix! For those of you who have four...I cannot even imagine!

 

Charlie's day started off at Dunkin Donuts where the "Manager's Special" was a blue doughnut. Perfect, because Charlie's favorite color is blue! By this time I think Charlie figured out what having her own "special day" meant because she was in a great mood and hamming it up.

 

Charlie told us she wanted to spend her special day at the Children's Museum. It was a treat to have Dad along...he was in charge of making the paper rockets and built one with some fancy fins.

After the Children's Museum Charlie got to ride the carousel twice! And, we even let her put money in the little ride-on toys in the mall. She got to pick out one toy at Target and spend 25 cents in the candy machine. Big day for this little girl!

 

 

This Weather!

This is the first time this spring that nice weather has occurred on my day off when I can also walk without wanting to cry. So, off to the park we went!

We ate lunch on the deck. Not really. Three minutes after I took this picture the girls came inside. Evy said, "The rats are really bothering us." I'm pretty sure she meant gnats.

Pre-School Graduation

Evy has officially graduated from the Pre-K room. I'm not sure what that actually means, other than they appreciate us paying for 5 years of daycare tuition, but it was a fun event nonetheless. Evy and her classmates will say goodbye to daycare and start Kindergarten in August. We have been so blessed with a fabulous Pre-K teacher this year. Evy has been at the same daycare since she was 3 months old; it's hard to imagine taking her somewhere else every day. I think she will adjust well to Kindergarten as the pre-K room operates much the same way. I can't believe how grown up my first baby is!

Grandma and Papa attended and helped us make a mad dash from work/school to dance class to graduation by running some errands for us and bringing dinner. Thanks!

*I've made the decision not to password protect my blog which means any stranger could be reading. The diploma was edited to not giveaway the name of our school or the name of our teachers. It wasn't actually presented to Evy with a big gray square over it :-)

Mother's Day

 

I hope you all had a great Mother's Day. We celebrated with Scott's family on Saturday and on Sunday my parents joined us for brunch. I have very few photos of this pregnancy so I wanted to try and get some decent family shots. I don't like any of these--my eyes and nose are so swollen it pains me to look at the pictures. But for the sake of documentation, here goes:

 

 

 

Sometime after brunch Evy must have grabbed my camera because I found all kinds of funny pictures when I was going through the files tonight.

Evy's Day

 

Before the baby arrives we are trying to spend some one on one time with each girl. Grammy Sherry and Papa Dick watched Charlie for us on Saturday so that Evy could have her own special day with Mom and Dad.

 

We started the morning off at a trampoline park. Scott and Evy jumped for about an hour. Evy did more running up and down the trampolines than jumping but I think she had a good time. In hind sight I'm thinking I should have participated, it might have encouraged the baby to come out early!!

The number one request Evy had was lunch at Chuck E. Cheese. I was afraid we were in for a huge upset when we pulled into the location where Chuck E. Cheese used to be only to discover it was closed! Luckily there was a Happy Joe's close buy with a fully stocked arcade room. We gave Evy $10 worth of tokens to spend and she had a blast collecting more than 350 tickets! She traded her tickets in for a pink stuffed bear.

In the afternoon we gave Evy the choice of bowling, roller skating, or going to a Dinosaur exhibit. From the picture above you can see what she picked.

Bonus! The Dinosaur exhibit even had face paint!

The Truth About Advanced Maternal Age

I haven't blogged much about this pregnancy. I look back to my entries from September and October 2008 and everything was about preparing for Evy's arrival. Of course, preparing for the arrival of your first child is much different than preparing for the arrival of your third. With the third you have your hands full taking care of two children. You have all of the "gear" that you need so you're not really preparing anything.

 

Tucked away in our house is an envelope that still holds a piece of paper telling us the sex of this baby. I hid it from Evy and Scott and feel no temptation to open it myself. For the record, I think it's a girl.

 

Needless to say this pregnancy has not been comfortable and I'm very ready to be done. At my last appointment I talked my OB into scheduling an induction. I'm officially on her calendar for June 5. It's warming up now so the lovely compression hose that I've been wearing for 5 months are getting more difficult to hide. Finding an outfit appropriate for work is nearly impossible. I had to bathe the girls and put them to bed last night on my own and nearly passed out. I was sweating, out of breath, and needed to sit down. The pain from the pubic symphysis has gotten better and I am walking with less pain this week. 29 days left to go!

 

 

This is a picture of my belly at 35.5 weeks. I didn't include my face because it's swollen. My hands are also swollen--like arthritis feeling swollen. Sweet.
