The Pretty Dress Monster

We have created a monster and it wears "pretty dresses." Evy's normal uniform is $4 leggings and $4 shirts from Target. This spring I bought her a couple of dresses and she fell in love! She twirls around, grabs the side of the dress and smiles. She repeats "Piddy Dess" about 2.3 million times. It's starting to get out of hand because now she throws a fit if she can't wear her "Piddy Dess". Last night she didn't want to take a bath because that meant the "Piddy Dess" had to be removed. This morning I got her out of her crib and her first words were "Piddy Dess?" I ended up putting the damn thing on over her pajamas to get her to calm down. I've resorted to hiding the "Piddy Dess." I can't say that I'm surprised that my daughter is this obsessed with fashion. It's probably considered pay-back.

Dangerous

Having a little girl to shop for is very dangerous. Jeggings and plaid? What could be cuter?

Who Dat?

Evy must be a Saints fan. She points at everything and asks "Who Dat?" She is using "who" when she should be using "what". Or, maybe she's just a big fan of Drew Brees.

Clouds

The other day after school Evy was pretty obsessed with the clouds. She was running around the yard screaming "Run mom! The clouds are coming!" I showed her how to lay down in the grass and look up at the clouds. Now, she'll drop to the grass at any random time to get a good look.

Resting Comfortably

My surgery was at 7:15 Wednesday morning. It only took 45 minutes and by 10:30 we were on our way home. I was pleasantly surprised how smoothly everything went! So far this experience has been a breeze compared to natural childbirth, mostly because this time around I've had a ready supply of drugs. I got sent home with a VascuTherm (pictured) and some great pain meds. I'm taking advantage of both of them--spending most of my time, with leg elevated, snoozing on and off. I'm using crutches to get around, but can walk short distances. Tomorrow I will start reducing my pain meds to see how sore my knee really is. So far things are going well. Maybe I'll be running a 5K by Halloween...

One To Remember

I've started a picture collage wall with Evy's milestone photos. It's not nearly as cool as the one pictured, but it does the job. I have her 18 month photos in the frames, laying on the floor, ready for Scott to hang whenever we get a chance. Last night Evy spotted the pictures on the floor and went running over to them. She declared "Oh no! Eddie fall down!" She was so worried that her pictures had fallen off the wall. No worries honey. You didn't fall down. Mommy is just 6 months behind!

Lazy Mom= Copyright Infringement

I have gotten so lazy with my picture taking! We had a great weekend and I captured nothing in photos! Friday we went to visit my new nephew Mason and Evy had so much fun playing with her cousin Jacob. It was really adorable--they are the best of buddies! Scott and I went on to Wisconsin for a wedding on Saturday and had a blast with our college friends. Not one picture to prove that any of this actually happened. Maybe it was a dream?!?! Thank goodness my sister-in-law is on top of her game. I stole all of these adorable pictures from her blog.

My Sweet Baby

I feel kind of bad about my post last night where I accused Evy of crying non-stop. In my defense she does cry a lot and it stresses me out mostly because it makes me wonder if she is hurting or if something is wrong. I called her teacher today to see how she acts at school. If something was truly wrong she would be crying all day---not just at home. Ms. Cat said "She's really easy going. She loves playing and I rarely see tears out of her." I said, "No, I'm calling about Evy. Perhaps you didn't hear me correctly." Just Kidding! It made me feel a lot better. I think the transition to home at night is just a little overwhelming for her and I'm going to try a different approach when we get home tonight to help her ease into her new surroundings. Sweet Baby.

Pony

Evy so badly wants to be able to have a pony tail. She requests "pony?" all the time. When I picked her up from school on Tuesday she had a little bunch of hair sticking straight up on her head. The teacher's had given in to her requests and gave her a pony! First words out of her mouth this morning....Pony? She went to school today sporting this beauty. You have to click to enlarge the photo to even be able to see it.

Required Accessory

Evy must have a minimum of two blankets with her at all times.

Going Under the Knife

My surgery is scheduled for September 22. They'll scope my knee and clean up the meniscus. I'm excited to get it done because I really want to get my activity level back up to normal, but I imagine next week I'll be freaking out a little. I've never had surgery and the idea of being on crutches with a 2-year old in the house sounds a little daunting...
And, yes I realize I'm not technically going "under the knife" with a scope but I thought that title was a little more catchy than "going under the scope".

Fix My Bike!

Evy's "bike" was squeaking like crazy on a recent walk around the block. I told her, "We need to ask Daddy to fix your bike." When we got back to the house I was trying to figure out what part of the bike was making all the noise and Evy went into the garage. A few minutes later she came running out of the garage with two screwdrivers and said "Fix my bike!" I think she's been watching too much Handy Manny.

Credit Where Credit is Due

I've been struggling with knee pain on and off for more than 10 years (yes, I know I sound like an 80 year old). In May, I went back into physical therapy because the pain had gotten worse. After 12 weeks of physical therapy and a shot of cortizone I was still at the same level of pain. Along the way my brother, who is a physical therapist, said he thought I had a torn meniscus. My PT brushed that diagnosis off and the M.D. who initally consulted with me also didn't think that was the case. Well, guess what! I had an MRI yesterday and it showed that I have a torn meniscus! I'm waiting to get an appointment with the surgeon and in the meantime have probably just set myself up for hearing, indefinitely, about how brilliant my brother is...

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Evy was so excited to tell Scott happy birthday this morning! She smiled really big and kind of whispered it to him when she woke up. We've already sang happy birthday to him several times--we had to start practicing last night. Evy is a lucky little girl. Scott is a great dad. Evy knows it too--she's mostly a daddy's girl.
