We just returned from a family
vacation trip to Naples to visit Grammy and Papa.
The Flight--This is the 4th time we've flown with children and the only time we've had a direct flight. It was fabulous. We are only going places with direct flights until the kids are 15. Also, we are never taking a one year old on a plane again. Above is a photo of what a 2.5 year old does on a plane. I don't have any photographic evidence of what a one year old does because I have never had enough hands/time to snap a photo while wrestling with a one year old on a plane.
The Pool--Grammy and Papa's condo has a great pool just footsteps away from their front door. This is how we spent most afternoons. And, by "we" I mostly mean Scott and his parents because I often used this time to excuse myself and take a nap! The girls LOVED the pool. By the end of the trip Evy was jumping into the pool with no life jacket and Charlie was jumping in without someone catching her.
The Beach--The kids loved the beach this year! No one was crying as they fell down multiple times and no one tried eating sand! Instead, they spent time collecting shells, digging in the sand, and chasing birds. At one point Evy was army crawling through the sand to sneak up on birds, seriously funny stuff.
The Zoo-No vacation would be complete for Evy without a trip to the zoo. She was in heaven--she got to ride a camel, see three lions, get her face painted, and Grammy and Papa let each girl pick out a stuffed animal in the gift shop.
The Children's Museum--Evy loved being a veterinarian. In the photo Charlie is coloring on a chalk wall, but she spent the majority of her time feeding sunflower seeds to little wooden baby birds. The girls also put on a pretty impressive hula-hoop show in the amphitheater.
Parks--We visited three different parks--this was definitely a kid-focused trip!
Charlie loved the swings!
Ice Cream on 5th Avenue at 8 p.m. Blue for Charlie and pink for Evy, of course!
Frozen was available on ITunes before you could purchase it anywhere else. So we splurged and purchased the $20 movie. Might be the best money we spent because the girls have watched it about 35 times. This is how they spent their "rest" time after the pool and before dinner each day.
And, this is the only proof I have that I and my 6 month belly were also on the trip.
Thanks for the great vacation Grammy and Papa!
