First Day of School

At our school you get a locker in 3rd grade. Decorating her locker was an exciting part of back to school night for Evy!

First day of school waffles! The breakfasts just go down hill from here!

First day of Mrs. Gardner's 3rd Grade class. When I grow up I want to be a veterinarian!

First day of Ms. Gorsh's 1st grade class. She asked me to straighten her hair for her. When she grows up she wants to be a home mommy!

Total Eclipse of 2017

The 2017 eclipse was a big deal. While we were not in the path of totality and it was super cloudy we still did our best to participate. Scott was on the ball and ordered our eclipse glasses very early on. You couldn't buy them anywhere in the days leading up to the eclipse. You know it was a big deal because Scott even came home for lunch!

Summer Book Club

Evy is not interested in reading but she is interested in hanging out with her crew. So, another Mom and I devised a plan to have a summer book club. Once each month this crew got together to discuss their book. And by "discuss" I mean they talked about it for 8 minutes and spent the next 1 hour and 52 minutes playing.

In June, Kathryn's Mom hosted Book Club and they discussed The Night Fairy
In July, I hosted and we discussed Backyard Witch-Sadie's Story
In August, Addie's Mom hosted and they discussed Juana and Lucas

Dirty Day

There is a pond not far from our house where we've seen other kids playing. The water seemed to be shallow so I told the kids we could check it out. So, I got everyone loaded up on bikes only to discover Scott's bike (I needed to ride his as it was attached to the trailer to pull Will) had a horribly flat tire. After 15 minutes of attempting to inflate the tire I gave up and had everyone jump in the van. Luckily, it all improved from there. This was the kid's favorite activity this summer. We played for over 2 hours, missed lunch, and I had to drag them home. They're begging to spend their last day of summer break going back for round # 2.

A little shy about getting wet at first, but just wait for it...

The girls (mostly Evy) were determined to build a dam and block the flow of the creek. The dam held for awhile as they frantically worked to build it up as the water rose behind the dam. Evy was working furiously to keep up but eventually mother nature won.

Soaked!

Jumping in and going under the water.

Downtown Day

We like to go downtown once each summer to do a little exploring. After lunch we hopped on a Cambus and looped around campus. The ride is free and the kids think it's pretty cool to ride a bus.

After the bus ride we went for FroYo.  The store owned by "that really nice man." Seriously, this owner is great to the kids! Then, we went to the fountain. Will got soaked. Putting his head and bum directly over the water.

Charlie got a little wet.

And Evy stayed mostly dry.

Private Pool

We have not gone to the pool much this year so I've felt obligated to squeeze some days in as summer is slipping through our fingers. We had a less than ideal day but decided to make it work. As one thunderstorm passed we headed to the pool. We had the entire place to ourselves as thunder rumbled in the background. The kids loved it! Everyone went off the diving board including me! This was Will's first time off the diving board. I had to drag them out of the place as the second round of rain started!
