My Honey

I must call Evy Honey a lot. When we were playing she said, "I'll be the Mama. You be the Honey."

Bloomsbury Farm

[BOO!]

[Bounce Pad]

[Riding on the barrel tractor]

[Lost in the corn maze!]

[Snacking on a Halloween Sucker]

We spent almost 3 hours at Bloomsbury Farms today, there were no crowds since we were there early in the season. Evy had a blast and Charlie slept the entire time. Scott took Evy through what we thought was a maze decorated with clowns. After seeing severed heads hanging from the ceiling he quickly realized his mistake and headed to the exit. Evy repeated "I not want to do that again" for the next 30 minutes.

Piece of Cake Delivery

Charlie is almost a month old already and I haven't documented her arrival into the world. I was induced on August 29, two days past my due date. The doctor broke my water at 8:30 a.m. and started pitocin at 9:15. Early on I informed the medical team, that I wanted drugs this time and I was serious. I requested the epidural around 11 and by 11:40 I was in happy land. I mean seriously...I love epidurals. Seriously. From 11:40 until 1:40 I rested very comfortably, drifting in and out of sleep. Seriously...sleeping while labor progressed. Wonderful. At about 1:45 the nurse told me I would start pushing in just a few minutes when the doctor finished up another delivery. I pushed through two contractions and then met my second beautiful daughter. The delivery was wonderful. I was calm, aware of what was happening, and felt almost tranquil. Much unlike the drug free, chaotic, and extremely painful delivery I experienced with Evy. It was a great experience all around. Did I mention the epidural was fabulous?!?

All Aboard

[This picture is supposed to be of Charlie, see her little head?]

[Looking out the window for Thomas and Percy!]

[Yum! Rice Krispy treat at our tailgate]

Evy and Charlie took their first train ride on Saturday, aboard the Hawkeye Express bound for Kinnick Stadium. Evy went to her first Hawkeye football game and Charlie went to her first tailgate! Charlie slept through the party and Evy loved the excitement of cheering the Hawks out of the tunnel.

In the rush to get out of the door I remembered the diapers, bottles, coats, blanket, change of clothes, game tickets and snacks but forgot my camera so these low quality cell phone photos will have to do.

Three's a Crowd?

Evy likes to stick close to me when I give Charlotte her morning bottle. I don't mind the crowd.

New Territory

Charlotte has been in the "newborn coma" for the past two weeks. Sleeping all the time. This is new to us as Evy came into the world, eyes wide open, and never slowed down. Charlie sleeps in her bouncy seat. What? She sleeps in her carseat. What? She even slept during tummy time. What? Now I understand why people say things like "the newborn phase is easy." Never understood that comment before.

Bitty Ballerina

Evy started dance class at our rec center last week. She loves it! Last night she was so anxious to leave for class she stood by the door and said, "Mom, I gonna leave you." We arrived to class 20 minutes early because I couldn't hold her off any longer!

Big Sister

Evy is doing great. She loves to help feed Charlie and bring me diapers. She's been a little more clingy--always wanting to be near mom, but so far no tantrums or major issues. She calls Charlie "My Baby" and always likes to know where Charlie is, peaking at her in her crib. She was very proud to tell all of her friends at school that she is a big sister.
