Too Much Adventure

Evy was supposed to paddle board at Wildlife Camp last week but they had horrible weather and missed out on several activities due to the rain. So, I told her we could go paddle boarding. We rented paddle boards for the girls and a kayak for Will and I and set off on the lake. Charlie couldn't quite get her paddle board to go straight so I drug her back to the dock and exchanged the paddle board for another kayak. By the time we caught up to Evy she was standing on the shore while her friend was in the middle of the lake with two paddle boards. So, then I hauled Evy back to her paddle board. We finally made it to the spillway where I nearly sliced my feet open on rocks. Ouch!! On the trip back to the dock we were rowing into the wind and things didn't get any easier. I ended up having to attach Evy's paddle board to my kayak and paddle her back to the dock. We paid for a 1 hour rental but this entire ordeal took more like 2.5 hours.

Volleyball

The girls participated in a little volleyball clinic this summer. They were not fans. On the first day Charlie jammed her finger so bad it turned black and blue. They keep telling me they are done with volleyball forever. Ha!

While Mom is Away...

I escaped to Arizona for 3 nights with some girlfriends.

We enjoyed a morning hike, Pilates and yoga.

Lounging by the pool.

Heading out for dinner.

On Friday Scott took the day off to stay with Will. They hit up the children's museum and chick-fil-a for lunch.

Friday night Will's friend had a birthday party.

Saturday at petland.

First time at shaved ice.

Almost asleep on the floor.

Kids and Dads over for a party Saturday night.

I think everybody had a fun weekend.

Wildlife Camp 2018

Charlie's 2nd year at Wildlife Camp. She was in Harrier this year and had fun with her friend Rilynn and Camilla.

Up early all week to catch the bus. Bug spray and sunscreen every morning!

Evy's 4th year at Wildlife Camp. She has so much fun with Kathryn, Edie and Hadley. Unfortunately the girls did not have good weather this week. It was either super hot, raining, or storming.

Cousin Fun at Grandma and Papa's

We went to Misty's both nights. Slushes one night, ice cream cones the next.

Mason and Will are buddies. They were excited to discover that their pajamas almost matched!

Official scarecrow installation at Papa's garden.

Evy drawing a face on the scarecrow.

She said she gave him a french mustache.

First time shooting a BB Gun.

Evy hit the can on her first shot!

Will and Mason were making an airplane.

Charlie made a doorstop.

Evy was making a speedway.

Lots of food prep and clean up with this crew!

Will turns 4!

Will does not like attention and told us for months that he did not want a birthday party. We eventually figured out that he didn't want anyone to look at him while he opened presents and he didn't want anyone to sing happy birthday to him. So, we invited our family and told them not to pay any attention to him. Ha!

Opening presents while not making eye contact with anyone.

He eventually moved to the basement to open the rest of the presents by himself.

He was not at all shy when it came to the pinata. He broke it open in no time.

The cousins had fun playing hide and seek.

Will picked his cake out at Hy-Vee.

On the evening of his actual birthday we let him pick the location for dinner and pick an activity. He wanted to go golfing.

So, we ate dinner in the club house while unbeknownst to us the pro shop closed before we finished. Yikes! No driving range. Luckily we were able to get a bucket of balls at another close by golf course so the disaster was avoided!

Scott once told him "You're getting so big I can barely lift you." It's so sweet but so strange for a kid to say that. Ha!
