2019 Polar Vortex

January brought lots of snow and cold weather. The kids had 6 snow days in two weeks which is a new record for us! January 29, 30 and 31 brought in a Polar Vortex which resulted in the coldest weather I've seen in my life. The real temperature was -25 with windchills from -50 or less! We had a bit of cabin fever as we were stuck inside. We sorted through all of the kid's books and donated over 100 books! We painted and the kids made a spy course in the basement. With winter break, Martin Luther King Day, and 6 snow days the kids only went to school 7 days in January!

Braces Phase 1

Evy started her journey to straight teeth today! She has braces on her top teeth and the goal for this phase is to push the front teeth forward to correct her under bite. Because the braces are correcting her bite she can't really bite down and is having a hard time chewing. Her diet has been macaroni and cheese, smoothies, jello and other soft foods cut up in tiny pieces. She took ibuprofen for the first two days and has been using a lot of wax to help with the soreness but she is handling it like a champ! We went through the school lunch menu for next week and identified which days she would need to take a soft lunch from home!
