We were all glad to wrap up summer swimming lessons! 10 lessons x 3 kids worked into camp schedules and an unexpected pool closing meant a lot of running to swimming lessons this summer. Everyone made great progress. Will is taking a few strokes with his face in the water. Charlie is independently swimming and diving. Evy has pretty much mastered each stroke. Nice work kiddos!

Blank Park Zoo
Scott had an overnight conference in Des Moines so we decided to go along too. The girls spent the night with Aunt Julie and then we all hit up Blank Park Zoo for a few hours.
These three belong in a zoo!

Big Cedar 2018
Oh Big Cedar, how we love you. This is our 3rd year in a row going to the same resort. There is so much to do that we did completely different activities this time around.
It rained most evenings that we were at the resort. Luckily they have an indoor entertainment center to take all of our money. Everyone liked the bumper cars.
The kids LOVE the arcade!
On Tuesday we checked out Dogwood Canyon which is a gorgeous nature area. We took a 0.4 mile hike and the kids thought they were going to die. Good grief!
Evy captioned this photo #hateit
On Wednesday the forecast called for rain all day so we went to Springfield to check out the new Bass Pro Shop aquarium. It was impressive, but I think the kids would have been equally entertained just walking around the Bass Pro Shop. Who knew there were so many animal exhibits in the store alone?!?!
Thursday had the best forecast (ironically) so we rented a boat and spent the day on Table Rock Lake.
I tubed with Charlie for about 4 minutes and then I wanted off the tube. Yikes!
Thursday night a storm blew in from no where (turns out this is the night of the horrible Duck Boat accident on the lake) when we were on our way to dinner. So, the outdoor patio was closed and kind of threw a wrench in our plans. The kids entertained themselves for almost two hours while we waited for a table. Luckily the scenery is gorgeous and the property has lots of space to explore. And there happened to be a rainbow which was perfect for selfies.
And now the rest of the photos are out of order because they are from Scott's phone and Blogger didn't upload them correctly and I'm not going to spend the time putting them all in the correct order.
This is the infinity pool and we spent most of our time here. On our last two trips to the resort we never even came upon this pool!
Will was old enough to drive his own bumper car which was absolutely terrifying. But, he loved it.
Dogwood Canyon where everyone enthusiastically hiked 0.4 miles.
Tram Ride through Dogwood Canyon
There was a lot of afternoon rain during our trip so the go-karts were closed several times when we tried to ride. On Tuesday we rode them just before a storm blew in.
Then, because it was raining, we went bowling.
