Sweet Dreams

We had success at a cute shop in Des Moines this weekend. If you're on the look for children's furniture I strongly suggest Suite Dreams as they have a great selection and all of the women there were extremely helpful. We decided on the pictured crib (in white) and bedding. I'm not going all out on the bedding: no drapes, pillows, hamper, etc so it won't be quite as overwhleming as the photo. When we left the store I was thinking how ridiculous this is. In our family room we're still using furniture from Target that I painted black, but the little princess will have a matching crib and dresser and coordinated bedding to go along with it. I suppose this is just the beginning...

Bump Watch

TMZ and US Weekly don't seem to be interested in covering my bump watch. I can understand I don't quite have the following that Angelina and Jamie Lynn do. So, I guess I'll just have to report on it myself. At 5 months I'm starting to get a little bump and everyone loves to point it out. Here, Aunt Susie and my dad show off the bump.

Nursery Furniture

I've started casually looking for a crib and dresser for the baby's room. A visit to one local furniture store and several hours of surfing online retailers such as JCPenney, Babies 'R Us, and Nebraska Furniture Mart have left me feeling a little overwhelmed with choices. What color? What style? What price range? What kind of wood? Adjustable rails or stationery? Umm...I'd just like a crib please, preferably not coated in lead paint. Seriously though, we have decided that we want white furniture. The one pictured is one of my favorites, but happens to be a little high priced so we're off to Des Moines this weekend to check out some other options. Once we check nursery furniture off the list it's on to bedding and paint color. Oh, the drama :-) !

Return From the North

My husband, the great fisherman, has returned from his weeklong fishing trip in Canada. This has become an annual trip for him and his father. They had a great time and caught at lot of fish. Lucky for me he didn't catch another trophy to be mounted on my wall!

500 Year Flood

A 100 year flood has a 1% probability of occuring in a given year. A 500 year flood has a 0.2% probability of occuring in a given year. Please forgive us Iowans if we give up on statistics forever since we have experienced both levels of flooding in the last 15 years.

We lost power and water to our building last week and were instructed to work from home. Today, we're back in the office and only dealing with some minor phone problems. Nothing compared to what the rest of the University is going through.

This picture is of the Park Road Bridge, which I normally use to get to work. The bridge has been closed since June 9.

Here She Is, Miss America

It's a girl! We found out that the baby we are expecting in October is (expected to be) a girl! The top photo is a picture of her profile with her hands resting on her forehead. The second photo is of her leg. She's going to have great legs! Maybe a dancer??

Graduation

After three years of evening classes and trying to wrap my qualitative brain around quantitative concepts I have regained my life! My parents and Scott's parents came to the ceremony and my brother and sister in law came to help me celebrate. In the picture above you can see that my co-workers surprised me with a rock star greeting after the ceremony. As always my mom came through with a cake! Now, I have free time to do more meaningful things like start a blog?!?
