In honor of the Royal Wedding Evy's class made crowns at school yesterday. I guess the madness around this wedding has even leaked into our daycare. Evy wore her crown and princess dress as we got the first glimpse of princess Kate on TV this morning. Kate was beautiful, but I think my princess is the most beautiful.

The Princess

Honest Words

I have naturally curly (frizzy, actually) hair so on most days I spend 20 minutes blow drying my hair straight and then using a flat iron to smooth it out. Yesterday I didn't feel like messing with it so I put some gel in my hair and went to work. When I picked Evy up from school she was looking at me with this weird look and then said, "Mom, I not like your scraggly hair." Thanks, honey.

New Productivity Standards

Since I have reduced my time at a place of employment (where I get paid) by 20 hours I have assumed 20 hours of childcare and household work. One job replaced by another. When I worked full time Scott helped with grocery shopping, laundry, etc. But the point of me being at home was to reduce the hectic pace of our evenings and weekends so I have happily taken on some of the tasks that used to be shared. I am very grateful for the freetime we can now enjoy on the weekends. However, my productivity when at home with Evy is absolutely laughable. At any given point I have at least 5 partially completed projects going on (interrupted by the demands and needs of a two year old) and if I'm lucky a couple of them will get completed that day. And, it takes me 9 hours to finish 2 loads of laundry. But that's ok. That's 2 loads I don't have to do on Saturday.

While My Parents Are Away...
Evy stayed with Grandma Joan and Papa Jake this weekend while Scott and I were in Las Vegas. She was happy to see us this morning, but we have a lot to live up to based on Evy's agenda of fun while at Grandma's and Grandpa's. Smores over an open fire, meeting the Easter Bunny and hunting for Easter eggs, and a farm tour where she saw sheep and cows. To top it off Grandma Joan started working on potty training and Evy is wearing big girl undwear to school today! Maybe we should go away more often!

A Blissful Family
In August we will welcome Evy's baby sister. According to a recent article shared by a friend on Facebook, "having two daughters leads to the most harmonious life." I can imagine our household will be less than harmonious at times during the next 18 years. But, we are very excited to welcome another pink bundle of joy. Evy has been calling the baby "baby sister" for months so the official news yesterday was kind of anticlimatic for her.

Catch and Release
[Just before the release]
[Stand Back!]
[Snake on the loose! Run!]
Scott found a very small garter snake in our backyard and put it in a bucket to show the kids. When it came time to release the snake Evy was adamant that the snake was not going to be released in her backyard. The neighbor kids were adamant that the snake was not going to be released in their backyard. So, we decided to release it in a nearby park.

My Daughter
Evy has become such a girly girl and I will admit that I love it. At a department store the other day she walked up to the Coach counter and said, "Oooooh Bags." At home she carries around 3 purses (bags) at a time while she pushes her cart to the store. At her friend Ellie's house she heads straight to Ellie's stash of dress up clothes. The other day she told me she wanted to wear a ring and loves it when Grandma Joan brings her a supply of beaded necklaces. We were picking out bigger shoes at Target this week and Evy had an opinion on each pair. Her little personality cracks me up!
