Daycare Poll

Last year I spent a lot of time complaining about our daycare. Since Evy moved to the toddler room things have been going great. Her teachers are great, the director of the center is great, and their daily activities are great. Evy seems to love going to "school" and her teachers seem to love her. I'm feeling much better about our situation. HOWEVER, I just got a notice that tuition is going up again. Do other centers raise tuition every year? I will grin and bear it because I want to keep Evy at her school. We pay more per year than in-state tuition costs at our local university. Crazy!!!

I hear you - we got notice about a month ago that it will be raised (I can't remember if it was 3 or 6%) for next year. Painful!

I guess that means one less pair of new shoes for Mom......

First of all, I did not leave the shoe comment. So are you serious about it costs the same at your daycare as it does at UI in-state tuition? We just started thinking about child care and can't wait to see the numbers. I'm sure, like everything here in South Florida, it will be astronomical! This might throw "numbers man" over the edge! haha

Taking into consideration tuition only (not room and board or textbooks) we pay more for daycare than UI tuition. We're paying for room and board on top of daycare expenses so yes, in the end it's more. Bet you can't wait to add that to the bottom line!!!

Yes, ours went up too last fall and I guess it will every year. To make myself feel better I take the weekly rate and divide by the number of hours she is there and think, wow, I wouldn't want to watch a baby for that long for that much per hour......and it gets me through!

Yes, after eight years of daycare experience, I can tell you that it went up every year without fail. Rising costs was always the answer. By the time I was done paying it, private school elementary tuition didn't look so bad. ~Becky
