Spring Has Sprung!

It was 70 here today so Evy broke out her shades and sun hat. Spring looks good on her.

What the?

This morning Evy was crying on and off for awhile. When I realized she wasn't going to calm herself down and go back to sleep I caved and fed her around 2 a.m. That in itself is unusual, but wait it gets better. After putting her back to sleep I heard a choking/coughing sound and went flying up the stairs to see what was going on. When I picked her up I realized she had spit up. But wait, her arm was so wet it looked like it had been under running water, oh her sheet is as wet as it would be just coming out of the washing machine, oh her mattress pad is soaking. The bed skirt is wet! Holy cow there's milk dripping down the wooden slats of her crib. Good lord, my bare foot is in a pool of wetness on the carpet. What in the hell just happened? How did the 4 oz that I fed her turn in to 20 oz on the trip back up her esophagus? This was no regular spit up. This was projectile! And projectile is most fun at 2:30 a.m. After completely changing her and her bedding we were back to sleep by 3 a.m. Until, at 5:45, she realized she was starving since she'd emptied the entire contents of her stomach.

Princess Pants

Princess Pants (aka Miss Evelyn) is getting an early start at having expensive taste. After trying several different formula brands she decided that the most expensive Good Start sits the best in her tummy. We also just discovered that her butt is so precious that the less expensive diapers give her diaper rash. Only the most expensive Pampers seem to keep her rash free. Guess we better just go straight to Gucci for the rest of our baby needs.

Grocery Getter

I'm the proud owner of a 7 passenger vehicle. A 7 passenger Buick SUV. To me the Buick brand brings to mind a grandma driving a huge car. My how things have changed. Just 3 years ago I was driving a 2-door car. Now my ride has a back hatch that opens and closes at the touch of a button. Funny how your interest in features changes with offspring. At least I've put off driving a mini van for a few more years.

Are you an Addict?

A article from Parenting.com warns that mothers are susceptible to becoming addicted to the internet. I love the irony in the fact that it's an online article identifying this problem.

"Coleen Moore, coordinator of resource development at the Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery in Peoria, says that she's seeing more and more women coming in for Internet addiction. They're young, they're often new mothers, and they're addicted to blogs and message boards she says." Here's the entire article.

If you read this blog regularly I think you might be in the same boat as me...on the verge of an addiction. Since having Evy my use of the internet has definitely increased. Man, now in addition to managing drug, food and alcohol dependency I have to watch my internet use. Bummer.

Chunky Monkey

My throat hurts and I'm pretty tired since Evy is stuck at waking at 3 a.m. each morning. My response: ice cream. I picked up a pint of Ben & Jerry's on my lunch break. I'm moving "lose 8 pounds" to next week's to-do list.

I Do

I've often commented that I need a wife. A wife to run my errands, do my grocery shopping, do the dishes and organize our life. On Oprah the other day she commented that she believes every mom needs a wife. Finally! I agree with something that Oprah says. As a fan of "Big Love" on HBO I've often thought that the polygamists are really on to something. 3 wives to share all the responsibilities! Busy? Just leave your kids with your sister-wife. Sounds like a sweet deal.
