Legalized Robbery

We just received the bill for Evy's tubes. We were billed $4,508. $872 of that is our responsibility because we have insurance. Did you hear that? We HAVE insurance and we are still paying $872 out of pocket for a 10 minute procedure. The discussion on health care reform must start with lowering costs. $2,500 of my bill probably went to cover the care of those who don't have insurance, but don't get me started down that path...

I remember one of the kids needing a second procedure and they wanted us to come in the first week of January...I said no way, we'd be in for the procedure in December since we had met our deductible for the year. I wasn't going to get "socked" with another bill!

That makes me think of our flex spend accounts. Every year we estimate or medical spend, and add more in to our accounts. Every year we make it until about June before our Flex Spend Accounts are empty. This year we made it until August. That's progress right?

OH No! I am going to have to deal with the same thing in a few weeks!

Yes you paid for those who don't have it. Those who can walk in and get those tubes for free. I love America.
