We've been struggling to keep food and liquids down Evy since Thursday. The breaking point came last night when she was screaming, uncontrollably, from midnight to 3 a.m. Scott and I took turns so neither of us would lose our mind. I called the pediatrician's office this morning at 8:01. The Dr. had to clear some wax from Evy's ears to get a good look. The wax clearing was lovely. Evy screamed harder than she did for her immunizations. Double Ear Infection. She needs antibiotics. Problem is she can't keep liquids down. Problem solved...she got a shot of antibiotics. We start the oral ones tomorrow assuming she starts keeping the liquids down.
Apparently ear infections can cause vomiting in some kids so hopefully the meds will help take care of both issues. For those of you keeping track the last 4 weeks have looked like this. Ear infection, rotavirus, cold/runny nose, vomit, double ear infection. Happy Mothers Day!

Oh...I feel so bad for you guys Emily! Hang in there. I know that little Evy appreciates you! Happy Mothers Day!
I am so sorry. Carson just finished his 5th ear infection (2 have been double). We had the vomiting too. He won't eat any baby foods b/c he thinks we are giving him medicine...so we have to put cereal in his bottle to keep him fed. It is sooo hard and you wish you could take away their pain and yours too!!! Hang in there and work in shifts!
OMG. I just put down Veda after a 60 minute temper tantrum and I thought I had it bad. I will count my blessings now.
She will be wanting those infected ears pierced before you know it!
Happy Mother's Day...
Love,Gma
Oh, poor little Evy! Hope she gets feeling better soon. Happy Mother's Day!
Hang in there -- she will have an immune system of steel!
Happy Mother's Day!
I curse the ear infections and sympathize greatly for you, Scott, and Miss Evy. Kate just finished her third round of antibiotics (and puked it all over me on Tuesday, missed two doses on Wed). I hear ya girl, I hear ya.
Wow! You guys have been through it. Please feel free to cry and moan at lunch.
