Babies Don't Like Buicks

We drove the new grocery getter (Buick) to Chicago this past weekend. Scott and I were in awe at the quiet, smooth ride. Our previous SUV rode like a truck and I often thought my spine had compacted 3 inches after a long ride. However, Evy obvioulsy prefers the old car. When traveling in our old car Evy would sleep for 3 hour chunks. The shaking and loud noise lulled her to sleep. In the Buick we only got about 1 hour and 15 minutes out of her, followed by 45 minutes of bawling. High decibel bawling. Wonder if the dealer still has our old car on the lot. I'd buy it back and pay double.

Citizen's Arrest

On the way back from Chicago today we stopped off for fast food. As I was waiting for Scott I looked out the window and saw two women under the awning of a closed gas station. One of the women appeared to be stripping. She was taking off layers of bras. Then, she dropped her shorts and removed at least 5 layers of underwear. I finally realized it was bathing suits that she was removing. I put two and two together and realized they had been SHOPLIFTING at the Wal-Mart!! I called the cops and reported them. I don't know what gets me angrier. The fact that they broke the law or the fact that they are such underachievers. Seriously?! Shoplifting for an $8.95 Old Glory brand swimsuit? Couldn't you set the bar a little higher for yourself?

I Do Not Cuddle

I just spent the last 20 minutes cuddling, rocking and singing to Evy in hopes that she would fall asleep in my arms and I could enjoy 30 minutes of cuddling with her. WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?! My child does not cuddle. She wriggles, twists and turns and when I finally gave up and put her in the swing she fell asleep within 2 minutes. "Mother, leave me alone."

0.5 Years

WOW! I cannot believe we all made it, unharmed, to the 6 month mark! We've had a round of recent illness but overall Miss Evelyn is doing well. She is starting to sit on her own and as you can see from these pictures her little arms are getting very strong at pushing herself up. She's just starting to eat baby food. So far she has tried green beans and carrots. She's very dramatic and makes a gagging sound indicating how much she loves her vegetables!
We've had a hard time finding a hat that fits her and that makes perfect sense after her most recent doctor's appointment where we learned her head is in the 95th percentile.
Other Stats
Height: 27.5 inches, 95th percentile
Weight: 16 lbs 4 oz, 50th percentile

Rotavirus

Mr. Ear Infection checked out of our house last weekend and Mr. Rotavirus checked in early Wednesday morning. We love house guests. Evy has been vomiting and has had diarrhea. SWEET! A call to the pediatrician this morning left us (and the doc) thinking Rotavirus. Apparently it is spread through poo. Gross! The major concern is dehydration since fluids are coming out of her faster than they are going in. AND...Evy doesn't want to eat since her tummy hurts. Solution: Give her 5 ml of Pedialyte via syringe every 15 minutes. Sounds easy enough, but Evy clamps her mouth and screams every time we try it. No problems. I plan to drink an entire bottle of wine tonight.

Thanks Ms. Mayhem

Thanks Ms. Mayhem. Now my header looks sweet....if I do say so myself. The key was opening the image in paint and then laying it out like I wanted. Thanks for the guidance!

I love Walgreens!

Let's all take a moment and pay homage to Walgreens. A moment of silence, please.......

I LOVE this place. My true appreciation for Walgreens fully developed after returning to work. Where else can I pick up a gallon of milk, diaper rash cream, magnetic photo frames and a one-hole punch? It really is everything a mother could ever wish for.
